My art comes from a wellspring of visions that I do not fully control or understand. Sometimes I am inspired by pictures, in the news or in a book, of recent or historical events

I want the world to know that beauty exists in prison

I also want to reach the boys like myself who didn’t think that a black man could grow up to be an artist. I want to show them that it’s possible to be creative and express your emotions, rather than turn to illegal behaviors or serve the privileged.
